New York Skyline
Notice how the New York skyline has change especially after the advent of steel for the construction of skyscrapers.
This picture is from The National Archives and shows rows of frame houses in a hilly area of Pittsburgh. The background of the picture shows smoke-shrouded throughout the city. This picture was taken in the year 1940. The smoke in the back of the city can be seen as pollution from the factories and industries.
This is a picture from The National Archives of rows of laundry outside a New York City apartment house. This picture was taken during the year 1935. The posters below advertise coming attractions at the Roosevelt and Apollo Theaters. I am assuming that this is a scene from an upcoming show at the Roosevelt and Apollo Theaters.

This is a picture of a women riveter during World War II. The women is in the Boeing Plant in Seattle and there were women all over the country doing the exact same thing that this women is doing right now. Riveting was a popular job for women during the war and just one of the many jobs that women did to help the war effort. The women were a vital component to the U.S. war effort and one of the big reasons why the U.S. won the war.

This is San Francisco, California in 1945. This is a picture of a cable car going down a street in San Francisco. It shows the changing technology during this time period. Before cable cars people used to travel by walking or horses. Transportation has become much easier because of new technologies.
